Ocean Symposium at St George’s International School

Previous

To celebrate the 100th birthday of renowned broadcaster and naturalist Sir David Attenborough, St George’s International School hosted an Ocean Symposium that brought together more than 240 students to explore ocean conservation, sustainability, and youth-led environmental action.

The event welcomed students from St George’s International School and the International School of Luxembourg, alongside educators, NGOs, and environmental organisations. Through interactive workshops and an educational exhibition, participants examined the vital connections between ocean health, biodiversity, climate change, and human wellbeing, while reflecting on the role young people can play in protecting the marine environment.

Odyssea was delighted to contribute to the symposium with an interactive stand highlighting marine mammal research and a hands-on workshop in which participants designed their own marine protected areas. These activities encouraged students to think critically about conservation challenges and explore practical solutions for safeguarding marine ecosystems.

The Odyssea team would like to thank Anne-Marie McHugh and her colleagues for organising this inspiring event and for providing a valuable platform to engage the next generation of ocean stewards.
