From classrooms to oceans

While Odyssea’s main outreach activities include the Science Festival, Researchers’ Days, and Ocean Days, we are occasionally invited to visit schools to share our expertise and passion for marine research and ocean conservation. In this context, we had the pleasure of participating in the wonderful initiative “Ozeania”, organised by Angsber Schoul (Angelsberg, Fischbach) for its students.

Odyssea volunteers Jeanne Wagner and Anna Schleimer spent an afternoon with students from cycles 3 and 4, leading hands-on activities on microplastics and discussing life at a marine research station. The students showed remarkable enthusiasm and curiosity, asking many insightful questions about marine life that even challenged our experts to think on their feet.

On 5 June 2026, we were also invited to attend the school’s closing event performance, which told the story of a small fish travelling across the oceans in search of the owner of a mysterious red plastic object. Along its journey, it encounters sea turtles, jellyfish, clownfish, sardine shoals, and even sharks. Words alone cannot do justice to the creativity, costumes, set design, and attention to detail that brought the story to life. We warmly congratulate the school on an outstanding production that will undoubtedly remain a lasting memory for the students.

We are also deeply honoured that Angsber Schoul and its students raised an amazing 1500€ with their Ozeania initiative which they donated to Odyssea in support of marine conservation. The entire team extends its heartfelt thanks to the students for this generous and inspiring initiative.
